Competing in 25 men’s and women’s varsity sports in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference, the Michigan State Spartans are the hottest tickets in town. With one of the most successful athletic programs in the nation, the Spartans have amassed 30 national championships, including six in football and two in men’s basketball. You won’t get far in Mid-Michigan without seeing MSU’S signature green & white.

The football team plays home games at 75,000-seat Spartan Stadium, while men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball call the 16,000-seat Jack Breslin Student Events Center home. The Ledges at Fitzgerald Park, along with being the inspiration for the town’s name, are one of Grand Ledge’s most popular destinations. Spread along the southern edge of the Grand River, these towering cliffs offer visitors a maze-like adventure filled with winding trails and stunning views of the river. Walking alongside these ledges is like stepping back into ancient history, with the sandstone rock dating back over 300 million years (a time that even predates dinosaurs). Lucky for residents of Riverwalk Apartments, The Ledges are a 20-minute walk from the community. Don’t worry Pinehurst Townhomes residents! You can easily access this natural wonder with a short drive (5 minutes) up to The Ledges eastern trailhead.

Spanning more than 100 acres along the banks of the Red Cedar River, Potter Park Zoo is home to more than 500 animals across over 150 species. The zoo features habitats ranging from the native natural habitat of the nearby Red Cedar River to Siberian tundra and African jungle. Popular exhibits include the snow leopard, African lions, tamarin monkeys, kangaroos, red pandas, and penguins.

The Zoo hosts a variety of educational programs like Keeper Talks, community events such as Boo at the Zoo, Wonderland of Lights, breakfast with Santa, and private gatherings throughout the year. Concession options are available throughout the park, and don’t forget to stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir to commemorate your visit!
